How to Keep Your Hamster Warm
In the winter, some homes don’t have access to a heater, or it just doesn’t work well. This could endanger your hamster. There are many ways to keep your hamster warm in the winter!
***Soft Materials***
-Shredded Toilet Paper
-Shredded Paper
-Hemp Bedding
-Providing some extra bedding
-Soft hamster hay
Soft materials (especially large amounts of them) can provide warmth and also can help your hamster feel cozy in the winter!
***Things You Can Do***
-Thermostat: if you can, try to regulate your house’s temperature from 69-76°F. If you’re hamster is still cold, try to stay on the warmer side.
-Heating Pad: I wouldn’t use a heating pad for my hamster unless it is extremely cold and my hamster might be "hibernating” or possibly getting hypothermia. You can buy any reptile heating pads, just make sure the automatic-turnoff setting is on so it doesn’t get too hot.
Increasing your hamster’s food supply can also supply heat, since it’s more energy. You shouldn’t increase the supply too much since your hamster could be overweight. If your hamster has a health issue, then this may not apply to you. I hope this was helpful!
