Are We Getting Another Hamster???

Yes! Of course, we are still very devastated and want to respect Cookie’s passing, so we won’t get a hamster until much later. We of course want to honor Cookie, and we don’t want to “replace him”. But it’s important to know that with owning a hamster, they will pass away faster than other pets. If that’s too hard for you to handle, maybe a hamster isn’t the right pet for you. This doesn’t mean you can’t feel sad! It’s very important to express your emotions and it’s normal to feel different things when somebody dies. It’s important to cry if you feel like it, and don’t cry if you don’t feel like it. The thing I’m trying to get to is that you have to decide beforehand that you’re okay with your pet passing away shortly and that you have to expect it and be ready for it. Hamsters and other small animals are hard pets to own because of this, but it also teaches important lessons, especially to younger kids.

Again, yes, we will be getting another hamster. I want to teach people about proper hamster care and also just take care of hamsters throughout my life because it’s fun for me! If you aren’t enjoying taking care of a pet, then maybe that’s not the right pet for you. I really want a Syrian hamster, since I’ve only ever owned hybrids that weren’t very large. I want to try out different things, so a Syrian hamster would be super exciting for me. We probably won’t get another hamster for a while, but this is just a heads up! Check out our YouTube page in a few weeks (@TheHappyHammyLove) to participate in polls about naming our future hamster!
